Our theme this month is Sensory Delights.
June is my birthday month, and so I picked this as a gift to myself. I hope it will be a gift to you as well.
But if you think about it, this is not a frivolous topic. It’s actually huge.
Our entire lives — all of our experiences — come to us through our senses. And yet we can so often overlook and take for granted the things we see, hear, taste, touch, smell, and otherwise sense.
But when we pay attention, these same things can make our lives so much richer and more joyful. They can connect us with ourselves, the people we love, the places we inhabit, and even with the Sacred. They can be sources of healing and creativity. They can help us feel more fully alive.
So this month, we’ll give our senses our fuller attention and appreciation, with a special focus on the sensory delights that make our lives more beautiful.
I’m looking forward to reveling in this topic together, along with the many good feelings I hope it will bring for us all.
