Our theme this month is Living Big.
What comes up for you when you imagine what it means and looks like to “live big”?
Maybe you think it doesn’t apply to you — that only “extraordinary” people live big lives. People like Gandhi, Monet, Michael Jordan, Oprah, Einstein, Mother Theresa.
But if you stop to think about it, aren’t we ALL extraordinary in our own way? Each of us is a once-in-infinity occurrence. No one exactly like you will ever exist again. No one will ever have your particular set of talents, experiences, and perspectives.
If you get out of your own way, you are capable of way more than you think. So am I.
But Living Big isn’t necessarily about what we accomplish — although it can be. It’s about what we feel is possible for us — how much love, enjoyment, learning, meaning, creativity, etc. — and how we invite more of those things that matter to us into our lives. How we lean more fully into the things that make us feel alive.
We can do that in small, incremental ways — taking one tiny, courageous step forward, and then another and another. Or we can take big transformative leaps. Either is fine; it’s up to you.
But however we dive (or wade) in with this theme, it feels like an important act of claiming our place in the world.
We get so many messages telling us to be smaller — both literally and figuratively. So many messages about who we’re allowed to be, how we’re supposed to look and act and think and feel.
Let’s use this month to set those messages aside and to decide for ourselves what it means to embrace our birthrights as human beings alive for one shining moment on this earth. And then let’s take a bold step forward into the possibilities…
